(August 21, 2014 – New York, NY) Island Records artist Tove Lo announced today the title, track-listing and September 30th release date of her highly anticipated debut album, QUEEN OF THE CLOUDS.
This exciting new full-length features her U.S Top 40 and Top 5 iTunes Alternative hit “Habits (Stay High),” which was also recently certified RIAA gold and is now approaching platinum status in the U.S.
To coincide with her album announcement today, the Swedish songstress premiered a new video on RollingStone.com for her second official U.S. single “Not On Drugs” alongside a string of North American tour dates. Her headlining tour – presented by VH1’s You Oughta Know – is set to commence at the Fillmore in San Francisco on September 22nd. Prior to that, Tove Lo will be performing at the Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles on September 21st and All Things Go Fall Classic Festival in Washington, DC on September 13th. Her headlining tour will be making stops along the west coast, Canada, New York City (for her album release week), and winding up east in Boston on October 5th (see below for full list of tour dates). Tickets go on-sale Friday, August 22nd and will be available at www.tove-lo.com.
Tove Lo first entered the pop arena earlier this year in March with the release of her critically acclaimed debut EP Truth Serum and widely appraised live performances at this 2014’s SXSW in Austin, TX. Hot on the heels of her debut single “Habits (Stay High),” which garnered an impressive 12 million+ views on YouTube, early champions at Alt Nation, non-stop spins on Sirius Hits 1and a Top 10 spot on Spotify’s Viral 50 Chart, Tove Lo went on to sell-out shows in New York and Los Angeles. Her EP closing track “Habits (Stay High) Hippie Sabotage Remix” has garnered more than 63 million worldwide streams on Spotify and over 11 million streams on Soundcloud.
“Swedish songbird” Tove Lo (as she was described by Nylon magazine) is rapidly winning over North American audiences. “The sparkly, synth-ridden track,” Nylon said of “Habits (Stay High),” “is an irresistible dance floor number with a decidedly dark backbone – using substances to deal with heartbreak – and according to the singer, creating a slick pop jam like this one is her way of dealing with relationship obstacles. “For me it’s easier to writer and single songs about my feelings than talking them out with people,” she explained during a recent visit to New York. “It’s my way of working through things.’”
Following her late night television debut on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers in June, Tove Lo and her band will be making a welcomed return to the small screen tonight on TBS’ Conan.
QUEEN OF THE CLOUDS is a unique three-part love story, whose final track list is as follows: “The Sex” * My Gun * Like Em Young * Talking Body * Timebomb * “The Love” * Moments * The Way That I Am * Got Love * Not On Drugs * “The Pain” * Thousand Miles * Habits (Stay High) * This Time Around * Run On Love (QOTC Edit)
Tove Lo is a graduate of Stockholm’s prestigious and rigorous Rytmus Music school, a springboard for young Swedish artists like Robyn, Erik Hassle, and Amanda Mair. As a member of Max Martin and Shellback’s writing collective, Tove earned her first cuts with her compositions “We Got the World” (Icona Pop) and “Something New” (Girls Aloud). In addition to self-professed supporters Ellie Goulding, Lorde and Icona Pop, Tove Lo’s online admirers also include Adam Lambert, Charli XCX, Major Lazer, Alesso, and others. Tove Lo was recently chosen as VH1’s “You Oughta Know” artist, one of Rolling Stone magazine’s “10 New Artists You Need To Know” and is the next iHeartRadio On The Verge artist. Previous On The Verge artists have included Sam Smith and Clean Bandit.
Tove Lo’s official tour will be presented by VH1’s “You Oughta Know” who first launched in 2005 and has since been responsible for introducing promising new artists on the rise and served as a barometer for what and who’s hot in music today. Many “You Oughta Know” artists have gone on to win industry awards and accolades including “Best New Artist” Grammy Awards and nominations. This highly acclaimed franchise has helped break artists such as Ed Sheeran, Adele, Mumford & Sons, Lorde, Sam Smith, Gotye and Sia and many, many more.
